About

Vanessa Prager (b. 1984) is a Los Angeles painter whose work explores identity, self-reflection, and how we see one another in a world increasingly viewed through screens. Her portraits have long blurred the line between people and the things around them. Faces turn into bouquets, and her newest paintings move into the small stuff of daily life, like a cake, a basket of cherry tomatoes, or the swirl on a latte. The New York Times featured her floral portraits in a 2024 piece on painting flowers. Her work has been shown at MOCA, the Santa Monica Museum of Art, L.A. Louver, Diane Rosenstein, The Hole, Richard Heller, and Kristin Hjellegjerde in London and Berlin, among others.
